Three hella kawaii (cute) foods I ate in Tokyo Disneyland
In the land of kawaii, and the Mouse, I found three of the most cute foods I could.
You might remember that I used to work at Disneyland (USA).
Disneyland is near and dear to me, so of course I afforded 2 out of 5 of my first-ever-days in Tokyo to the Japanese Disney theme parks.
With zero regrets.
Not only was the food wonderful, so much about Tokyo Disneyland makes me want to renounce my citizenship and become Japanese.
(Just kidding NSA/FBI/CIA/IRS/Whoever else is reading this from inside my computer)
Anyways, here is a recap of three of the cutest, most kawaii foods I ate at Tokyo Disneyland Park.
Mickey “Ukiwah” Life Preserver Chicken Bun
Yeah mofos, that’s a chicken bun / sioapao / mana pua that is shaped like a life preserver… in the shape of a Mickey head. Maximum Japanese Disneyland vibes if you ask me.
I got this at Boiler Room Bites in the Adventureland-esque area in Tokyo Disneyland. Apparently this used to be themed to Donald Duck, and the life preserver helped Donald stay afloat. Cute! Although, his ass should for sure know how to swim by now.
This bun had multiple types of meats going on in there. Well, it could all have been chicken, but there were different shapes of it LOL. Meatball shaped chicken, minced meat shaped chicken, and possibly one other shape that I ate too quickly (ear #1). The meat tasted good!
The taste and texture of the bun is very regular, nothing to write home about. But altogether, for 750 yen, or $5.20, this is an easy get. Cute picture opportunity as well.
Baymax Curry
Outside of the Coffee House on Main Street, you’ll see a 75 minute line. They’re waiting for Baymax Curry.
Thankfully, my pal Andrew who I was traveling with (and also did 2 tours of duty at Disneyland with) waited in line while I fked around a bit watching the Electrical Parade. But also, going during a parade will often yield you shorter waits anyways.
So when it was our time to be seated, we walked through an expansive dining room which begged the question “How does this have a 75 minute wait?” I don’t really ever ponder that again once we start eating, because, we'll, you’ll see.
First thing out is a Spotify-green colored melon soda. Every influencer will gush and fawn over the melon Fanta. I am not one of them. It is good, but I wouldn’t get a refill. And I love soda.
On to the main event here: Baymax Curry. I fking love Baymax, it’s worth prefacing. My truck is even named Baymax. So for me to be sitting in front of this plate of absolute kawaii-ness was almost unbearable.
Had to start eating this mofo with the quickness.
There are two sides: One is spicy beef curry (dark brown) and the other is… butter chicken. Hella random, but also it hit bigly.
This Baymax curry is a can’t-miss occasion ESPECIALLY if you have any sort of affinity towards Baymax.
For 1,480 yen or $10.25ish, that’s another EASY get. And again, epic pictures. (This trend won’t stop).
Little Green Dumplings
This is the talk of the town, fr.
The streets are abuzz with chatter about these Little Green Dumplings, so naturally I had to go see WTF was up.
We got these at Pizza Port in Tomorrowland. Like many things in Japan, you order from a vending machine of sorts, but instead of pumping out green dumplings, they furnish you with a receipt to exchange for said dumplings at the counter.
When you receive your Little Green Dudes, they come in a plastic Toy Story cup that I’m sure hoarders love to keep as a souvenir. I am a recovering micro-hoarder so I discarded mine relunctantly.
The dumplings are made of mochi, which give them a chewy, soft, and satisfying bite. Each dumpling is filled with either chocolate, strawberry, or vanilla flavored filling.
Each is delightful.
And yes, you will feel bad eating their little faces. But that fades quickly, and you may be ordering another set of three quickly upon finishing.
For only 400 yen or $2.75, that’s another EASY GET, you can afford that; AND YES ALSO a great picture.
If you haven’t peeped it yet, check out my new YouTube video where I discuss these kawaii dishes in detail.
But in summation, Tokyo Disneyland was almost overwhelming epic for me, both as a Disney fan and as an Asian Man.
Like, it was crazy for me to see the Disneyland Band as all Asians.
Really, it was amazing and I’ll never forget it.
